Hello Bolo counts taps, not people. The app collects usage statistics so the lessons and questions can be made better. It never collects your name, your contact details, or the words you type.

Hello Bolo is free. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to, so we do not know who you are. Your settings and your progress stay on your phone and are never sent anywhere. Deleting the app removes them.
The app keeps a small record on your phone and sends it on. Things like:
Never your name, your email address, your phone number or your location. And never the words you type or search for — only how many results appeared and which one you tapped.
The statistics carry a random ID created on your phone. It identifies that copy of the app, not you. It stays until you turn the statistics off or delete the app, and turning them on again creates a new one.
They are sent securely to PostHog, which stores them in the European Union on our behalf and may use them only to help improve Hello Bolo. They are not sold and not shared with anyone else. Individual records are kept for about a month and then deleted; what remains is overall totals that cannot be traced to any one phone.
Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Share usage statistics. Turning it off stops everything, deletes the random ID and deletes anything still waiting to be sent. The app works exactly the same either way.
There is no advertising in Hello Bolo, and nothing about you is ever sold. The app does not record you and asks for no microphone permission.
Hello Bolo teaches the English people use in everyday situations. It is not legal, medical, financial or immigration advice, and it is not connected to the NHS, any council, school, bank or government body. For advice about your own situation, speak to the organisation concerned or a qualified professional. Hello Bolo is made for adults and is not directed at children.
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to it being used. The quickest way to stop everything is the switch in Settings. Because the statistics carry no name and no account, we may not be able to find your records from an email address alone, but tell us what you need and we will help as far as we can. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can contact the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
If any of this changes, this page and the app's App Store and Google Play privacy information will be updated before the new version is released.
